Bill Fishman

DIRECTOR / PRODUCER (D.G.A / W.G.A.)

Bill Fishman created Fallout Films in 1984 as an independent production company set up to produce his own music videos and later feature films, and ever since has been dedicated to challenging the great James Brown for the rights to the epithet, “the hardest working man in show business.”

Directing music videos for such diverse acts as The Ramones, Good Charlotte, Wilco, Hank Williams Jr. w/Kid Rock,The Brand New Heavies, George Clinton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Geggy Tah, Bootsy Collins, Georgia Satellites, Sir Mix-A-Lot and The Jayhawks allowed Bill to develop the keen sense of humor and style that helped him garner the 2003 MTV V.M.A.’s Viewer’s Choice Award for Good Charlotte’s “Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous” and the Country Music Association’s “Best Video” Award two consecutive years for his work with Hank Williams Jr. His video for punk rockers Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized” was displayed in the Portland Museum of Art during a multi-media exhibit celebrating modern dadaism.

Having attended several film schools, including N.Y.U., S.F. Art Institute, SUNY at Purchase, UCLA, and A.F.I., Bill made his big screen writing and directorial debut in 1988 with the celebrated feature film “Tapeheads,” starring John Cusack and Tim Robbins, which went on to capture both the “Prix de Public” and “Gran Prix” awards at Switzerland’s Val D’Isere Film Festival. The film also launched lasting friendships between the maverick director, Cusack, and Ebbe Roe Smith (“Falling Down”). Bill went on to co-write the screenplays “Dreaming of Babylon” and “Car 54, Where Are You?” with Smith. Bill directed “Car 54…” starring David Johansen, Rosie O’Donnell, Fran Drescher, Danny Baldwin and Jeremy Piven for Orion Pictures in 1992. Bill went on to develop and produce the successful and critically acclaimed film “Posse” starring Mario Van Peebles, Billy Zane and Stephen Baldwin. Bill also directed the feature film “Desperate But Not Serious”, starring Christine Taylor, Paget Brewster, John Corbett and Claudia Schiffer.

Currently, Bill just finished his latest feature “My Dinner With Jimi”, a film about a particularly raucous night during 1967 spent in London with The Turtles, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles starring Academy Award nominated actor Justin Henry, Royale Watkins and George Wendt. “My Dinner With Jimi” was premiered at the 2003 Slamdunk Film Festival in Park City, Utah where it received the Best Screenplay Award. The Asheville Film Festival in North Carolina awarded the film Best Feature Film. While seeking a distribution deal, the film continues making the rounds at film festivals from coast to coast to enthusiastic responses from critics and fans alike.
