Duran Duran Share Anime Video for CAJI Team up “MORE JOY!”
The synth pop legends’ new album ‘Future Past’ is out on October 22nd, with ‘MORE JOY!’ leading the way.
Produced by Erol Alkan and featuring guitar from Graham Coco, ‘MORE JOY!’ boasts gleeful vocals from Japanese group CHAI.
CHAI comment: “We are full of joy! When Duran Duran asked us to join their new song, we listened to it and thought ‘this is lively, rock, cool and fun’, and we danced! We added our voices to their rock sound, making it even more ‘MORE JOY’! Because we are MORE JOY. Thank you Duran Duran!”
Appropriately enough, the video has an anime feel, featuring a heroic stranger and a dashing dragon on an underground quest in Tokyo.

The band currently reside in Los Angeles however they are originally from Bath, ME. They released the song “Safe” late last fall and it unexpectedly is approaching 2 million streams on Spotify. It was at the urging of family and friends that principal band member Zach Hurd even released the song, so its success is most unexpected to him. Making no effort to promote it, within weeks, the track landed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” playlist, then shot up the Global Viral chart. “At the time I was in Williamsburg, Virginia, helping to clear out my grandparents’ old house,” recalls Hurd, “Every day I’d wake up to something new. It was so surreal -like, ‘This unbelievable thing is happening, and I’m alone in Colonial Williamsburg.’” In addition to the success at Spotify, the song was selected a “Today’s Top Tune” at KCRW for tomorrow, April 18.
Bay Ledges, which features Hurd’s sister Georgia on vocals, take their name from a plot of land that their grandparents owned in Maine. The band is currently working on an EP for S-Curve Records to be released later this summer.

“The Decemberists have unveiled the silly new visuals for “Make You Better” starring Parks and Recreations’ resident steak-eating man’s man, Ron Swanson — er, sorry — Nick Offerman. Running for almost seven minutes, the Bill Fishman-directed clip plays out like a Between Two Ferns-meets-Anchorman spoof, where the band visits a ’70s-era German talk show called The Old Blue Rock Palace Show. Offerman plays a bumbling interviewer who keeps screwing up everyone’s names, including the song title’s (“Make Me Butter”), while simultaneously trying to make amends with his blonde producer love interest. “Colon” Meloy’s white overalls and porn-star beard are pretty impressive, too.

Brief performance exists at the intersection of humor and pain
“We know Nick Offerman best as a man’s man, a man of few words whose stoicism rarely betrays the emotions within. And that’s why the times when he does express an ounce of sadness or regret cut a little bit deeper. In this video for the Decemberists’ “Make You Better,” Offerman gets laughs as a fumbling German talk show host interviewing lead singer Colin Meloy. But it’s his portrayal of longing and insecurity that makes the performance memorable.
Though he’s all moustache and bravado on the outside, Offerman’s character faces that familiar pain of unrequited love, and a nerve too weak to proclaim it. As he struggles to find the right words, the Decemberists play a song of need and regret to match the shape of his wound. The premise is funny, but the execution, a little bit heartbreaking.
